"California Style" Watercolorist Rene Weaver was born in Pocatello, Idaho, and graduated from the University of Idaho. The early portion of his commercial art career was spent in Portland, but at age 39, he moved south to San Francisco.
The next 24 years of his working life, he created art for the Thompson Advertising Agency. Apart from his commercial work, he maintained a painting studio at Sansome and Market Streets in the Flatiron Building and taught art. He was a member of California Art Club and often went on painting excursions with fellow watercolorist and friend, Maurice Logan. Source: AskArt, Edan Hughes, "Artists in California, 1786-1940"
