Matthew Leizer was a prominent mid-century architect in Los Angeles. To the left is the main library building for the city of Santa Monica, designed by Leizer and built in 1962.
Like many architects, Matthew Leizer was a hobbyist painter. He created this watercolor in Monument Valley, a work filled with atmospherics, seemingly wild color while remaining true to rusty red color, structure and mass of the "mitten" monument featured on the right side of the paintnig.
