Beginning as a self taught artist, George Bickerstaff was able to study briefly at the Art Insititute in Chicago. He came to California in 1922, and eventually called Ukiah home. He exhibited on several occasions with fellow artist Paul Lauritz. Most of his work includes eucalyptus trees and wildflowers, and to a lesser degree, seascapes and deserts. He passed away in Ukiah in 1954.
