Jack Hannah, The Turning Tree
The Turning Tree

oil on canvas, 9 x 12

Jack Hannah was an animator, director and writer at Disney Studios, known mostly for his work directing over 100 Donald Duck cartoons. He worked with fellow Disney artist, Joshua Meador. He studied at LA's Chouinard and Otis Art Institutes. He, along with Joshua Meador, was a key animator for Diseny's for the Academy Award for Disney's The Old Mill in 1937.

After his time at Disney, he dedicated much of his time to paintinig landscapes throughout California. The Auction record has the title Noyo Dock. Bodega Bay Heritage Gallery has two paintings of Noyo Harbor by Joshua Meador, done while he lived nearby in Caspar, California, just up the coast from Mendocino. Although we have no documentation, it is quite possible Jack Hannah did his painting of Noyo Harbor while visiting Joshua Meador in Caspar.
