Al Dempster was a leading background artist at Walt Disney Studios from the 1940s through the 1970s. Known for his richly textured and atmospheric work, he contributed to numerous classics, including: Bambi '42, Cincerella '50, Sleeping Beauty '59 and others. Although we have no documented evidence, he would have worked along side other Disney artists in Bodega Bay Heritage Gallery's collection, Joshua Meador and Ralph Hulett.
Outside the studio, Al Dempster painted landscapes and seascapes in oil. He was known for his warm light, texture and quiet beauty. In retirement, he settled in rural Los Osos, north of Santa Barbara.
