The location of this painting is uncertain. Philip Meador, the artist's son suggests two possibilities, either at Idyllwild, CA in the mountains between Hemet, CA and Palm Springs, or the eastern slope of the Sierra near Glacier Park near Independence, CA, just north of Lone Pine. A seasoned backpacker from Bishop has told us the mountain is definately the eastern side of Mt. Whitney.
