Leonard Maltin ... Walt Disney... |
Leonard Maltin entitled a recent article, "When Disney Got Adult and Trippy" in which he honors the films produced by Walt Disney Studios during the early 1940's. |
Fantasia 1939, Animation Sequence, Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor |
Joshua Meador, Animation Effects Reel "A Taste of what Joshua Meador brought to Disney Studios" 1937-1965... including Josh's creative animation work in clips from Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Pinoccio, Saludos Amigos, and the Id Monster from MGM's Forbidden Planet along with examples of his signature work with water, oscilloscope effects, and animated sequences with one form seamlessly transformed into another. |
A DECADE OF AMAZING INNOVATION | |
Steamboat Willie, 1928, A TALKIE ... with early examples of Disney's work with character development and sound synchronizaion. This film gives hints of where Disney wants to go with the art of animation. |
And a decade later, Fantasia ... what a difference, in color and stereo sound. |
Joshua Meador and an assistant prepare a mud pot. Josh and a team of animators did some homework, sketching mud bubbles popping at the surface as they considered how best to animate volcanos for Fantasia. |
Our gallery continues to acquire and sell Joshua Meador's paintings, to do research on both his fine art and animation careers, and we are always on the lookout to speak with with anyone who knew Josh back in the day and share their stories via our website and newsletter. Our Joshua Meador page has links to all our Meador paintings and links to all our archived articles of his animation and fine art careers. http://bodegabayheritagegallery.com/Meador_Joshua_.htm |

More about Lawren Harris ... From our November Newsletter Steve Martin Curates The Idea of North at LA's Hammer Museum |
Harris believed that Canada's sparse population in such a large land has blessed Canada with a psychic atmosphere, far more clean than that of the United States, where the huddled masses tend to blanket the land. Harris wrote, "We are on the fringe of the great North and its living whiteness, its loneliness and replenishment, its resignations and release, its call and answer, its cleaning rhythms." |
